Undervaluing Christianity

We mortals tend to believe the problem with Christianity is what we have to give up, what we cannot do or what we must do. We value our earthly things more than the rewards God gives. We have it upside down. The things God wants us to give up are harmful to us and others. The things God wants us to have and to do are beneficial to us and to others. We believe that God*s way causes problems. The fact is that our way causes problems. The main problem with Christianity today is really a lack of commitment to Jesus Christ. Many Christians are more committed to themselves than to the Savior. The Lord cannot and does not bless what is not committed to Him. He is not a thief. He does not steal the parts of our lives that we would withhold from Him.

Romans 12:1-2: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

He wants us to willingly give ourselves and our lives to Him. There are things which we try to give to God that are unacceptable to Him. We think that God is unreasonable if He wants our lives. He calls it our reasonable service. If we honestly consider all that He has given to us and done for us we must come to the conclusion that He is right and we owe Him our very lives. We owe Him everything! He gives us life. He gives us our bodies. He gives us everything our bodies need to sustain and enjoy that life.

The blessings of heaven will be immeasurably better than the tiny little things we give up for Him. We often think of committing our lives to God as a chore. It is a privilege granted only because of His mercy. Take an honest and serious look at those around you who are whole-heartedly serving Christ. Are they enjoying their lives more than you or less than you? Are they happier than you or unhappier?

Psalms 84:11: For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

He has already given us the most expensive gift, His own Son. How could He not give us the other paltry little things we need?

Romans 8:32: He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

1 Timothy 6:17: Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

Romans 8:18: For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

2 Corinthians 4:17: For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

God sometimes reminds us that the true wealth from Him is better. He very often gives me things that are far better than earthly wealth. The real problem with Christianity is that unbelievers do not know what a wonderful thing it is.
